Local festivals are an excellent way to get to know the culture and tradition of Fuengirola. Throughout the summer there are several festivals.

In April Semana Santa takes place, this is the most important celebration in Spain. It is a celebration of live itself and every region has organised festivities.
In June they celebrate the Feast of Saint John (Midsummer s Eve) and Summer Solstice. In the last mentioned juas (figures made of rags or paper) are burned, to symbolically loose all that s bad.
In July Fuengirola pays tribute to the Virgin del Carmen. The Virgen del Carmen is the patroness of Andalusian fishermen, and colourful sea-borne processions are held in her honour in fishing communities on or near her feast day, which is the 16 July.
The younger inhabitants have there own holiday, La Noche Rosa. This is when many local musicians come together to play at this festival.
