Local feasts and traditions
There are many holy festivals in Manilva. To start with carnival is celebrated, which takes place in February.
And of course the festivities that celebrate la Vida (Semana Santa) can also be enjoyed in Manilva. Like in the whole of Spain this is in April or May.
From 23 to 24 of June is the Noche de San Juan, this is when the shortest night of the year is celebrated. According to the tradition the people burn "jas" in beaches of Sabinillas.
On the 27th of June there are pilgrimages to honour the Virgen de Ftima.
Also in Manilva the people honour the patroness of the fishermen, Virgen del Carmen, on the 16 th of July. This happens in many places in the Costa del Sol.
The patroness of the village, Santa Ana, is honoured on the July 26. This is a festivity with dancing, drinking and more lasts until the early morning.

The first weekend of September the village celebrates the end of grape harvest.
Finally on November 1 Manilva observes Todos los Santos (All Saints).
Although the place is somewhat inland, Manilva is one the best places to enjoy the seafood. Of course this can be enjoyed with one of the fine local wines.
