Like in the whole of Spain Semana Santa (Easter Week) in April is largely celebrated. In January they celebrate the festival of San Anton, this is when pilgrimages are held to the San Anton shrine. In the beginning of September are the celebrations of Virgin de la Pea, paying an honour to the patron saint of Mijas.

Of course bull fighting, like in the whole of Spain, is also popular in Mijas. Like many other cities and villages, Mijas has its own bullring. Special about this bullring is that it has an oval structure. This is just one of the many things that make Mijas a special place to live.
Another typical thing you could find in Mijas are the donkey-taxis. This is an easy, fun and not to expensive way to get round in Mijas.
