Local feasts and traditions
As all Spanish cities and villages Nerja has some festivals. Like every village, city or community in Spain Nerja celebrates Semana Santa.
In May the San Isidro pilgrimage is held, he is the patron saint of the farmers. The 16 th of July, just like in other parts of the Costa del Sol, is the day of Virgen del Carmen. She protects the seamen.
The local festival must be the Nerja fair in October. This is a festival to honour the patrons of the town, Virgen de las Angustias and San Miguel Arcángel.

Even though the foreign inhabitants and tourists have had an influence on the food, Nerja has a great tradition when it comes to gastronomic.
