Local feasts and traditions

Like in all Spanish cities, the Torremolinenses like a "fiesta". Starting in the last week of February with the Campeonato de Baile Retro , this is a retro dance championship. After this dancing championship starts the carnival, with a colourful parade.

Of course in April there is Semana Santa (Holy Week), which is also celebrated in Torremolinos.

Cruces de Mayo (Crosses of May) is in the beginning of May, a celebration with decorated crosses. In June Corpus Christi and Noche de San Juan (night of San Juan), the Noche de San Juan is on June 23.

Fair of San Miguel, Torremolinos

Like in all towns along the coast of the Costa del Sol on the 16 th of July is the Virgen del Carmen, to honour the patroness of the fishermen.

Late September is one big pilgrimage, of San Juan, with some more than 200,000 participants this is the second largest in Andalusia. In September a few days after starts the Feria de San Miguel, Fair of San Miguel, the patron saint of the city.

The food in Torremolinos is typical for the region. There are many restaurants where you can get the international cuisines. But also typical Costa del Sol food can be found in many places in Torremolins. Typical Costa del Sol is pescaíto frito, this is small fried fish, and the cold soup gazpacho.
